What You Should Know
- Nouns name people, places, things, or animals.
- Verbs show action or tell what someone or something does.
- Every complete sentence needs a noun (subject) and a verb.
- Singular nouns use verbs with -s (The dog runs).
- Plural nouns use verbs without -s (The dogs run).
Tip
Write your answers on paper first. Then check each answer one at a time. If you get 10 or more correct, you are ready to move on!

Part A: Identify Nouns and Verbs (Questions 1-4)
1. Find all the nouns in this sentence: "The farmer grows vegetables in his garden."

2. Find the verb in this sentence: "The children laughed at the funny clown."

Verb: laughed
3. Find all the nouns AND the verb: "My brother builds towers with blocks."

Part B: Choose the Correct Verb (Questions 5-8)
5. The baby (cry / cries) when she is tired.

cries - One baby is singular, so the verb needs -s (cry becomes cries).

read - Students is plural (more than one), so no -s on the verb.
7. My grandmother (bake / bakes) the best pies.

8. The dolphins (swim / swims) in the ocean.

Part C: Fix the Sentences (Questions 9-12)
9. Fix this sentence: "The birds sings in the morning."
