Quick Review

  • Nouns name people, places, things, or animals.
  • Verbs show action or tell what someone or something does.

How to Find Nouns and Verbs

  1. Read the sentence carefully.
  2. Ask: "Who or what is this sentence about?" The answer is usually a noun.
  3. Ask: "What is happening? What action is being done?" The answer is the verb.

Example Sentence

"The dog runs in the park."

  • Nouns: dog, park (people, places, things, or animals)
  • Verb: runs (the action)
