Different Types of Families

Some families have a mom and dad. Some have just one parent. Some children live with grandparents, aunts, uncles, or other caring adults. ALL families are wonderful!

Let's meet some families and see what makes each one special!

Example 1: Emma's Family

Emma lives with her mom, dad, and little brother Ben. They have a dog named Max.

What makes Emma's family special? They love reading books together at bedtime! Emma's favorite part is when Dad does funny voices for the characters.

Example 2: Carlos's Family

Carlos lives with his grandma and grandpa. His parents work far away but call him every day.

What makes Carlos's family special? Grandma teaches Carlos how to cook delicious food from their culture. Grandpa tells amazing stories about when he was young!

Example 3: Maya's Family

Maya lives with her mom and her older sister Lily.

What makes Maya's family special? Every Saturday they have "adventure day" where they explore parks, museums, or try new things together!

Example 4: Jamal's Family

Jamal lives with his dad, stepmom, and two stepbrothers.

What makes Jamal's family special? They love playing board games together on Friday nights. Everyone cheers and laughs, even when they lose!

Sofia lives with her aunt and uncle. She also has three cousins who are like brothers and sisters to her!

What makes Sofia's family special? They have big family dinners every Sunday with lots of food, music, and dancing!
