What is a community helper?

A community helper is a person who has a job helping other people in their neighborhood or town. They make our community a better place to live!

Firefighters

Firefighters put out fires and rescue people from danger. They ride in big red fire trucks and wear special gear to stay safe. They also help during other emergencies!

Police Officers

Police officers keep our community safe. They help people who are lost or in trouble, direct traffic, and make sure everyone follows the law.

Doctors and Nurses

Doctors and nurses help us feel better when we're sick or hurt. They give check-ups to make sure we're healthy and give medicine when we need it.

Example 1: The Firefighter

What happened: There's smoke coming from a building!

Who helps: Firefighters rush to the scene in their fire truck.

What they do: They spray water on the fire to put it out and make sure everyone gets out safely. They are so brave!

Example 2: The Doctor

What happened: Emma has a sore throat and feels sick.

Who helps: Her mom takes her to the doctor.

What they do: The doctor looks in Emma's throat, checks her temperature, and gives her medicine to feel better. Soon Emma is healthy again!

Example 3: The Police Officer

What happened: Carlos got separated from his mom at the park.

Who helps: A friendly police officer finds Carlos crying.

What they do: The officer stays with Carlos and helps him find his mom. The officer makes Carlos feel safe until his family is back together!

Example 4: The Teacher

What happened: Maya wants to learn how to read.

Who helps: Her teacher helps her every day.

What they do: The teacher shows Maya letters and sounds. They read stories together. Now Maya can read books by herself!

Example 5: The Mail Carrier

What happened: Grandma sent a birthday card!

Who helps: The mail carrier delivers it to your house.

What they do: Rain or shine, the mail carrier brings letters and packages from people far away right to your mailbox!
