A tradition is something special that a family does again and again. It could be something you do every day, every week, or every year during holidays! Traditions help families feel close and create happy memories.

Remember: Every family's traditions are different, and that's what makes them wonderful! Some traditions come from your culture, your country, or are invented by your own family. All traditions are special!

Let's see some family traditions!

Example 1: Emma's Bedtime Story

The tradition: Every night, Emma's dad reads her a story before bed.

When: Every single night!

Why it's special: Emma loves this quiet time with her dad. She can't fall asleep without her story! It's been her favorite tradition since she was a baby.

Example 2: Carlos's Sunday Dinner

The tradition: Every Sunday, Carlos's whole family eats dinner together at Grandma's house.

When: Every Sunday evening.

Why it's special: Carlos gets to see his cousins, aunts, and uncles. Grandma makes delicious food from their family's culture. Everyone laughs and tells stories!

Example 3: Maya's Friday Game Night

The tradition: Every Friday night, Maya's family plays board games together.

When: Every Friday after dinner.

Why it's special: No TV, no phones - just fun together! Maya's favorite game is Candy Land. Even when she loses, she has fun laughing with her family.

Example 4: Jamal's Birthday Breakfast

The tradition: On birthdays, Jamal's family makes a special breakfast with pancakes in the shape of the birthday person's age!

When: On each family member's birthday.

Why it's special: When Jamal turned 5, he got pancakes shaped like a 5! Plus, he got to pick what was for dinner. He felt like a king all day!

Example 5: Sofia's Cultural Tradition

The tradition: Sofia's family celebrates Three Kings Day in January. They leave out shoes with grass and water for the kings' camels!

When: January 6th every year.

Why it's special: This tradition came from Sofia's great-great-grandparents. In the morning, the grass is gone and there are presents! It connects Sofia to her family's history.
