π’ Common Listening Mistakes
π Learn
Even good listeners make mistakes sometimes! Let's learn about the tricky things that can trip us up when we listen.
β The 4 Big Listening Traps
Trap 1: Not Waiting for the Whole Message π
Sometimes we answer before the person finishes talking!
Fix: Wait until they stop. Count to 2 in your head. π
Trap 2: Mixing Up the Order π
We forget what came FIRST and what came LAST.
Fix: Listen for words like "first," "then," "next," "last." π
Trap 3: Hearing Similar Words Wrong π
Words that sound alike can trick us! (cat/hat, red/bed)
Fix: Listen to the WHOLE sentence, not just one word. π
Trap 4: Getting Distracted π¦
Our minds wander to other things while someone talks.
Fix: Look at the person. Put down toys. Think about their words! π
π‘ Examples
Let's see these traps in action!
